California artist Lindy Duncan creates plein air landscapes and figurative works in oil. Though she began the foundation for her art career during her teenage years, it was a sculpture class later in life that reinvigorated her artistic pursuits. Ms. Duncan has since spent years painting, drawing, and learning from other artists. "My goal is for expression and design to be interwoven with color and rhythm."
For Ms. Duncan, painting en plein air is "a natural blending of self and artistic medium, as I am the happiest when outside. In plein air painting, the effects of light and color are both intense and evasive, and each scene offers a unique challenge. Each painting is a journey for me; it records not only the place itself but also sense of feel b the warmth of the day, the smell of the grasses and trees b the painting becomes the essence of my responses to the subject."
Ms. Duncan is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Laguna Plein Air Painters, and American Impressionist Society; artist member of the California Art Club; signature member of Alla Prima International; and charter member of En Couleur. Her work has won many awards.
